4 Steps to Choosing a Mattress
Fri Mar 06 2015
The Mountain High Sleep Gallery carries Serta Mattresses, the world's best mattress and the 2014 Women's Choice Award for most recommended mattress! Serta designs memory foam mattresses, innerspring mattresses, memory foam and innerspring hybrids, adjustable foundations, pillows, bedding, and more! With so many variations on comfort level, style, and foundation, it's important to do your research to determine what style of mattress is best for your lifestyle.
1. Determine your needs:
1. What do you like or dislike about your current mattress?
2. Have your needs changed since you began using your current mattress? (i.e. Do you now share the bed with a partner or child? Have your sleeping needs changed in any way?)
3. How much space do you have in your bedroom?
4. Talk to your partner to determine if their needs align with yours.
5. When considering price, remember that you will spend 1/3 of your life in bed. Choosing a new mattress is an investment in your health and a great night's sleep.
2. Choose a type:
Memory foam vs. innerspring vs. memory foam/innerspring hybrid? Plush vs. firm vs. pillowtop?
Innerspring
An innerspring mattress is made with a steel coil innerspring support system, with various foams and fibers on top to provide comfort at the surface. Serta offers a variety of innerspring constructions, including their Continuous Support® innerspring and their most advanced Duet™ Coil Individually Wrapped Coil-in-Coil innerspring.
Did You Know? The number of coils in a mattress varies from manufacturer to manufacturer and is based on a queen-size mattress (i.e. twin mattress have fewer coils, kings have more); but the coil count is not necessarily as important as the construction, and Serta’s unique coil construction achieves greater comfort and support.
Memory Foam
A memory foam mattress features an all-foam support core that works to balance proper support with pressure-relieving comfort. The top layers of the mattress include memory foam, as well as other comfort foams and fibers. Only Serta offers its exclusive Cool Action™ gel memory foam for enhanced cooling comfort and more support where you need it most, in their iComfort® gel memory foam mattresses.
Innerspring Hybrid
A memory foam hybrid mattress combines the support of a traditional steel coil innerspring with the comfort of memory foam. Serta's memory foam hybrid mattresses feature Serta's innovative iSeries® technology. This technology features Serta’s Cool Action™ Gel Memory Foam and Serta’s Duet Coil Individually Wrapped Coil-in-Coil Support System, for a fully supported and deeper sleep.
Firmmattresses offer the least surface “give” and would be considered harder in feel to the other mattress surfaces. If you like a solid feel rather than soft, firm may be your choice.
Plushmattresses offer more surface “give” and provide a softer surface comfort. This is a happy medium between firm and pillow top.
Pillow topmattresses provide an extra padded layer at the top of the mattress, over the support system of the mattress for plush comfort. No matter the size of the bed, this softness can help provide comfort and may help promote a more restful night's sleep.
3. Choose a size:
With multiple mattress sizes available, how do you deteremine what size you really need? Use this quick guide to determine what fit is best.
