Worst cooktop I've ever owned.

This cooktop was purchased for our new construction home, and it is the worst cooktop I have ever owned. First I would like to say that the merchant should have advised me that there was no authorized service in my area. I contacted Kitchen Aid because there is no true "simmer" on any of the burners. A high or low simmer is the same on all of the burners making it very difficult to cook because the food burns. Kitchen Aid contacted an authorized service person to come out and look at this problem. When I didn't recognize the name of the repair company I googled them and they are 4 hours from my home. I was apprehensive that someone would travel that far for a repair so I contacted them and they promised they would be there to look at the cooktop. As I suspected he was a no show not once but twice. I called Kitchen Aid and let them know that he never showed, and I was offered repair at my expense which would be refunded in the form of a gift card. I called a reputable repair company in my area, and they came out twice and told me there was no adjustment on the cooktop. Thankfully because they could not adjust the flame they did not charge me. I am so disappointed that I can't simmer food and leave the room because the food will burn. I start out on one burner then have to move the dish around for simmer. Usually the back left burner is the only burner I can simmer on. I consider myself a seasoned cook, but ever since I purchased this piece of junk I don't want to cook. It's become a chore, not a pleasure. Also, not having an authorized repair service closer then 4 hours away is a joke. I plan on contacting the BBB in reference to this faulty cooktop, and merchants selling products that can't be serviced.
