Downdraft is fantastic

Love the KitchenAid downdraft. For 30 years I have had an upper cabinet blocking the view to my family room. With the remodel I didn't want a range hood hanging down so we discovered the downdraft system. What a blessing. Press a button and it pops up and starts removing the steam from the cooktop. What a wonderful discovery! So glad we found it.
good one

So we purchased this brand new and have used it, not everyday, but for the past 4-6 weeks. We're trying to be good by keeping the filters clean. The last time we took them out, the downdraft descended on its own. No where in the manual does it tell you how to troubleshoot an occurence like that. We called kitchenaid and they sent out a technician. He tried all he could by checking the breaker, and unplugged the unit to get it ro reset. Nothing happened. He in turn ordered a bunch of parts in anticipation of replacing. This was on Saturday, we're waiting for the parts to come in. Like I stated earlier, this was brand new. This shouldn't be happening already. If anything, I should be thrilled it's still under warranty. I hope whatever the technician does, we will never have issues again for at least 10 years!
Looks great. Quiet ,
