The kitchen on the 21st century is quickly becoming the new heart of the home. The days of formal dinners in the dining room are steadily disappearing while the new kitchens are becoming bigger and focusing more on entertaining, energy efficiency and aesthetics. Have you noticed that the seated island is becoming a very popular element in kitchens today?
It is because the kitchen is evolving as a room. Once upon a time it was just the room to prepare the food and cook the meals. Now it is a room to cook food, entertain guests, have a cocktail with the girls and save energy.
Since formal living and dining rooms are fading away, many people are redirecting using that money that would have gone to furnishings and expensive decor on high-quality energy efficient kitchen appliances.
One last trend is that many new kitchens are a part of great room design, meaning the kitchen is open and flows into the living areas of the home, making it a more inviting and welcoming space.
